Dear Parent

I am really pleased to inform you that the Interim Executive Board (IEB), with the full agreement of the Local Authority, has appointed Mr David Read as Principal of Scalby School from September 2010. 

Mr Read, prior to his 5-year tenure as headteacher of Nidderdale High School and Community College, was a deputy headteacher at Scalby. He was absolutely delighted at being offered the position, which he readily accepted, subject to the usual clearances.

The IEB, the school and the Local Authority are firmly committed to a very effective ‘hand over’, prior to Mr Tarn’s departure at the end of August 2010, and, as part of this process, Mr Read is planning to ‘meet the parents’ at the next meeting of the Parents Consultative Group on Monday 10 May 2010 at 7.30pm.

I know from speaking to David that he has always longed to have the opportunity to lead this school and the IEB has absolute confidence in his ability to continue with the terrific work that has been undertaken by the school led by Mr Tarn and the team.
