Dear Parent/Carer BIOMETRIC CASHLESS CATERING We are pleased to announce that we are installing a new cashless system for our school catering. Our desire is to continue to provide and improve on the quality of the school meal service at your school. We are sure you will appreciate the advantages the new system will offer our students and parents. It will also enable us to deliver a more efficient, faster service and to continue to provide wholesome, healthy, and enjoyable meals at the lowest cost. The system will start to operate on MONDAY 19th APRIL. All students and staff will be informed of and given training on how to use the system prior to this date. We already use a biometric identification system in the school library called Eclipse, and our new catering system will further enhance our reputation as one of the most technologically advanced schools in the area. From 19th April no cash can be accepted at the food counter till points, but cash will be accepted at two new revaluation terminals within the school. For your convenience and to assist us in our administration of the service, a method of payment by cheque will be introduced. Cheques should be made out to ‘NORTH YORKSHIRE COUNTY CATERERS', and placed into the special post box provided in the school Reception. Please write your son/daughter's name and VMG on the back of your cheque and place in an envelope. Any amount of money can be paid into your account held within the system. Money spent on food will be taken out of the system and students can always check how much is left by using either of the revaluation terminal. The school is also able to provide you with a report detailing each item of food served, each credit made to the system, for any time period, and the current balance. There is a daily ‘spend limit' programmed into the system of £4.00. This can be increased or decreased for an individual student by making a written request to the school kitchen. Should you wish your child to continue to bring ‘dinner money' to school, the facility for accepting cash payments for the day will of course always be available. However, all cash will have to be entered into the system using the automatic cash revaluation terminals, and cannot be used to buy food directly at the dinner counters. These are programmed to only accept £20 - £10 - £5 notes and £2 - £1 - 50p - 20p - 10p coins. Cash can be paid into the new revaluation terminals at times convenient to your child, and not just as lunchtimes. The school will also implement a system of on-line credit card payments for the new cashless catering system in the very near future. Our on-line system will also allow you to check your child's account and see how their dinner money has been spent, and the remaining balance of their account. More information on this feature will follow shortly. Introduction to the Cunningham's Impact Cashless System.
ACTION NEEDED Cheques for meals to be taken next term can be placed in the special post box by Reception from Monday 15 March and it would help us to set up the system for all our students if you can send these in, to cover the first week's lunches at least, before the end of this term, rather than on 19 April! I hope you agree with me that this new system will greatly benefit both students and parents. Yours sincerely Paul Tarn |
